Texas Hereford Auxiliary Scholarship Information
 

1. Applicants must have been a member of TJHA by January 1 of the current year.
2. Applicants must be either a senior in a Texas high school or a freshman in any college
3. Applicants must be under the age of 22.
4. Applicants must be single, never married and cannot have a child.
5. Applications must arrive by May 1, 2008.



The second scholarship being offered is to aid a college student pursuing their education goals. Eligibility:
1. Applicant must be a member of TJHA.
2. Applicant must be an upperclassman college student attending college.
3. Applicant must be single, never married and no children.
4. Applications must be received before May 1, 2008.


Each of these scholarships is for $500, and payment will be made at the beginning of the fall semester. The winners will be notified at the Texas Junior Hereford Association field day.

College students pursuing their educational goals may apply for this scholarship being offered by the Texas Hereford Auxiliary. High school seniors and college freshmen are not eligible. You may have received the Texas Hereford Auxiliary Scholarship when you entered college. This scholarship is for $500 and payment will be made at the beginning of the fall semester of year in which you apply. The winner will be notified at the Texas Junior Hereford Association State Show.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Please type your full name, address, telephone number, age and date of birth.
2. List name and address of parents or guardian, their relation to you, their occupation and other children in your family.
3. Type the college you are attending and or the college/university you will be transferring to this year.


ACTIVITIES
1. Document experiences in extracurricular, community and church activities while attending college.


FINANCIAL NEED
1. List percentage of college tuition and expense for which you are responsible.
2. List percentage of college tuition and expense for which your parents are responsible.
3. List other sources for financing your college education.


SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING
1. Transcript of college credits.
2. Current photograph.
3. Short essay of 500 words or less on “What meaningful experience has college taught you and what plans/goals do you intend to pursue upon graduating from college?”

A. List your most important TJHA projects and activities:



B. List other involvement and activities such as school, church, community, youth or civic organizations.



C. Please write an essay discussing what the Texas Junior Hereford Association has meant to you in terms of personal growth and why a college education is a personal goal. (Not to exceed 350 words.) You may attach another sheet of paper if necessary.

TEXAS HEREFORD AUXILIARY

The Texas Hereford Auxiliary scholarship is made in one payment at the beginning of the fall semester. The winner of the scholarship will be notified at the Texas Junior Hereford Association State Show. The winner will be selected by a qualified committee who will judge applicants on the basis of their educational record, Hereford activities, other activities and financial need.
